Voyd Hicks

Voyd Hicks, age 85 years of W. Harrison, IN passed away Saturday, December 17, 2005 at V.A.M.C. in Cincinnati, OH. He was born July 19, 1920 in Chestnutburg, KY the son of Frank & Addie (King) Hicks. He married Ruby Robinson on Dec. 23, 1941 in Manchester, KY. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, WWII Naval Veteran, retired in 1982 from U.S. Shoe Factory in Harrison, OH and also a farmer. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife Ruby Hicks, children Virgil (Beatrice) Hicks of Batesville, IN; Curt (Alice) Hicks, Sr. of Versailles, IN and Phyllis (Steve) Horstman of W. Harrison, IN; grandchildren: William L. Bennington, Shaun K. Bennington, Phyllis K. Meredith, John E. Hicks & Curt Hicks, Jr.; great grandchildren Cameron Hicks, Dalton Peterson, Benjamin Meredith, Drew Hicks, Kaila Hicks, Alexis M. Bennington, Brandon Hicks & Caleb Hicks; brothers Alfred Hicks of Port Charolette, FL and Clyde Hicks of Clay County, KY; sisters Paulina Houston of Batesville, IN; Vergie Cowens of Clay County, KY; Viola Johnson of Bright, IN and Eunice Bunner of New Castle, IN. He will also be missed by many other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Monroe & Lee Hicks and sister Matilda Hall. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2005 from 5-8pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 10:30am at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Harrison Funeral Detail. Memorials may be directed to Harrison VFW.
