Verna L. Dunning

Verna L. (Dorst) Dunning, age 88, lifelong resident of Bright, IN died Friday, March 28, 2014 at The Seasons of Ripley Crossing in Milan, IN. Verna was born in West Harrison, IN on March 16, 1926, the daughter of the late Adam & Carrie (Viel) Dorst.

Verna worked for G.E. in Cincinnati until her marriage to Mortimer Charles Dunning in 1956. Shethentook on theduties of ahomemaker and mother. She was a long time member of the Bright Fire Department Auxiliary, Bright Homemakers, and Bright Providence Presbyterian Church. She loved traveling, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents Adam & Carrie Dorst, her husband of 43 years, Mortimer Charles Dunning, a son Todd Dunning, a brother Harold Dorst, along with two sisters Bertha Jones & Dorothy Dorst.

Verna is survived byher daughter Susan (Noel) Houze of Milan, IN, son Jeffrey Dunning of Terrace Park, OH; three granddaughters Kristen Houze, Elizabeth (Jason) Dew, & Courtney Dunning, and four great grandchildren Ethan Paul, Dawson Barnard, Braelyn Dew & Carson Dew.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 11am until time of service at 1pm all at the Bright Providence Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Crank officiating. Burial will follow services at the Gibson Cemetery in Bright.
