Thurman Benjamin Hiatt, age 81, of West Harrison, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 26, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of James Benjamin and Affa Lee (Roop) Hiatt.
Thurman was a 1962 Western Hills High School graduate where he played football, track & field, and swam. He married Carol Jean McDonald on November 7, 1964, at St. Teresa in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thurman was a long-time business owner in Harrison. He was a member of St. John the Baptist, All Saints Parish (St. John Campus), Sheet Metal Workers Local #191, Republican Committee member of Franklin County Whitewater Precinct #1, and founding President of the Harrison Soccer Association.
Thurman is survived by his loving wife Carol Hiatt. Father of John (Kim) Hiatt, Christina Hiatt, Matthew (Heather) Hiatt, and James Hiatt. Grandfather of Andrew (Catherine) Hiatt, Affa Hiatt, Owen (Alexandra) Hiatt, Aileana Tillman, Alijah Tillman, Brennan (Nikki) Hiatt, Drew (Sommer) Schmitz, Mitchel Hiatt, Madison Hiatt, and Tate Hiatt. Great-grandfather of Johnny, Athena, Bryon, Braxton, Easton, Lukas, and Malia.
Preceded in death by his parents James Benjamin and Affa Lee Hiatt, and brother James Edwin Hiatt.
Thurman’s visitation will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at All Saints Parish, St. John Campus, 25743 IN-1, Guilford, Indiana, 47022. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Harrison, Ohio.
