Terry Barnes, a beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, in Harrison, Ohio, at the age of 91. He was born on February 11, 1934, in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
Terry had a distinguished career at General Electric, retiring as Quality Manager in JetPac, where dedication to his work as well as his co-workers earned him great respect. A proud veteran, he served the US Army in Germany, exemplifying the values of service and commitment to his country.
A 1952 graduate of Withrow High School, Terry’s legacy extends far beyond his professional achievements. He married Carol “Cookie” Tessendorf on March 3, 1955, at the Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church.
Terry was deeply involved in his church, First Presbyterian Church of Harrison, as an elder and shared his passion for music as a long, time member of the choir.
Terry’s other life, long passion and extended family was bowling on Monday nights at Harrison Bowl for many years.
Finally, there’s lunch with friends and family at Nick’s and Skyline where he was served by several of his favorite people.
He is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Mary (John) Craft, Matt (Berta) Barnes, grandchildren: Jarid (Elizabeth) William, Tara (Zachary) Tucker, Sydney (James Green) Barnes, Paige (Jay) Robb, and Cody (Kayley) Barnes, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren: Isaac, Abby Willman and Della Rose Barnes. He is also survived by his sister Sandy Loar.
Terry is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol Barnes, his parents, Edward and Mary (Nee Lowe) Barnes, and his brothers: Edward, Gene, and John Barnes.
A memorial service followed by a light meal and fellowship starting at 4:00 PM will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, located at 115 South Vine Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday October 13 from 6 to 8 PM at Yeager-Benson Post 199, located at 10700 Campbell Road, Harrison, Ohio 45030.
As we remember Terry Barnes, we honor a man whose life was marked by his unwavering dedication to family, church, and country. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
