Ted Slone

Ted Slone, age 83, passed away surrounded by loved ones in West Chester, Ohio, on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Ted was born to the late Floyd and Armelda Slone in Hazard, Kentucky on March 7, 1943. He was married to his beloved wife Carol Slone for 56 years.

He is survived by two sons, Bradley Slone (Gina Gapinski-Richter and son Clayton Richter) and Ryan (Samantha) Slone; two grandsons, Cody Slone and Mason (Kayla) Slone; one sister, Mary Smith (Don Ingram) of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Slone; sisters Stella Coots, Emma Jean Monday, Ella Mae Messer, Carrie Terrell, and Martha Cody; and brothers Bobby Ellis Slone and Ed Slone.

Ted was a longtime member of Stahlheber Baptist Church. He worked for Miami University, retiring after 30+ years. Ted was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed woodworking and creating treasured gifts for his loved ones. He could fix just about anything and was happiest when working on a project around the house. He loved the outdoors, whether hunting, riding ATVs, or camping with family and friends. When guests came to visit, Ted could often be heard saying, “Don’t rush off.” He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Rick Witt at 12:00 p.m. All services will be held at Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio 45056. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, 2421 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030, is in charge of arrangements.
