Taylor Valentine

Taylor Valentine, age 87 of W. Harrison, IN passed away Monday, December 03, 2012 at The Legacy at Ridgewood in Lawrenceburg, IN. Born June 27, 1925 in Manchester, KY he was the son of the late Ed & Martha (Reed) Valentine. He worked for Fisher Body (GM) in salvage repair for 30 years. He married Mary Jane Yeager on June 7, 1952 in Hamilton, OH. He was a member of Bright Christian Church in Bright, IN but also attended Church on Fire in Harrison, OH. Taylor enjoyed many activities during his life. He was a Citizens Band Operator and later a Ham Radio Operator where he enjoyed conversing with his Ham buddies and fellowshipped with them during monthly meetings. For years he and Jane traveled and camped in their 11 foot Eldorado camper that fit on the back of his truck and extended over the cab that took them across the country. Some of those memories included Bar-K-Lake, Florida, Smoky Mountains, Myrtle Beach & Brown County. Taylor also loved to golf and loved to tell about following Barry Larkin, Marty Brennamen & Joe Nuxhall on different occasions on golf outings. He loved to strum on his guitar and sing a tune. Taylor is survived by his daughter Delores Walter of Cincinnati, OH, brother Walter (Faye) Valentine of Bethel, OH, sister Sophie (Sherman) Allen of London, KY, girlfriend Mildred Irene Lipps of Harrison, OH and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Valentine on Oct. 24, 2009, daughter Georgia Lynn Reed, son Gordon Ray Valentine, brothers Levi, Vernon & James Valentine and sisters Gertrude Pucket, Cara Smasher & Irene Valentine. Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 11am until time of services at 1pm all at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH with Chaplain Tom Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison, OH. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Assoc. c/o the funeral home.
