Shirley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2026, surrounded by loved ones who meant so much to her. She was born on June 11, 1939, to Olive Harris and Donald Cole.
Throughout her life, Shirley was a hardworking and devoted woman who was loved and respected by many. Some of Shirley’s happiest moments were spent with her family. She loved going on vacations and checking items off her bucket list, embracing each experience and making memories along the way. She especially enjoyed fishing with her husband, Richard, and her family—simple moments that became treasured memories. Shirley also enjoyed visiting the casino and having a little fun trying her luck. She was well known as an avid euchre player—and, as her family would lovingly admit, she was not above a little creative rule interpretation when she wanted to win. Cough, cough—cheating. Her competitive spirit and playful sense of humor brought plenty of laughter and made every card game memorable. She will be lovingly remembered by her Indiana card-playing family, with whom she shared many special moments.
Shirley is survived by her children: Adeline (James) Dean, Jeanette Day, Becky Sand, Patricia Swing, James (Charlene) Inman, and David (Melissa Lantz) Inman. She also leaves behind 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy and meaning to her life. Her family was her greatest legacy, and the love she gave them will continue through every generation.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Inman; her sons, Michael and Larry Inman; her granddaughters, Amanda and Kimberly Lorman; her granddaughter, Jamie Inman; her brothers, Robert Harris and Eddie Harris; and her loving sister-in-law, Martha Cooper.
Though she is no longer with us, Shirley’s presence will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her life was a gift, her love was lasting, and her memory will never fade.
She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Mark Garrett officiating all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home 215 Broadway Street Harrison, Ohio 45030. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery Bright, Indiana
