Ruth Mary Ross, age 76 of Bright, IN passed away suddenly Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Englewood, FL. She was born on January 4, 1938 in Hooven, OH and was the daughter of Edward & Ruth (Jacques) Hohweiler. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1955 and studied at College of Mt. St. Joseph.
Ruth worked for P&G right out of High School, then went on to Adler Socks, MacGregor Sporting Goods, Manor Catering, Kaiser Chemical, A.R. Nagel and finally retired from John E. Carrigan Plumbing Co and a controller. From the mid to late 60's, she wrote for Speed Sport News giving the recap of the races at Northern Kentucky Speedway. She loved her family, loved going to Florida, going on cruises, camping and just being in the sun and outdoors. She was a very organized person with a big heart who also liked Nascar and playing Bingo. She designed & built three houses and teased her kids that that was what she was going to do when she retired.
Ruth is survived by her son Barry (Anna) Bowman of W. Harrison, IN and her daughter Leslie (Robert) Ellis of Okeana, OH. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Lance Bowman, Ian Bowman, Lauren (Jesse) Franks, Kelly Ellis, Michael (Erin) Schulte & Matt Schulte; great grandchildren Lucy Bowman, Annabel Schulte, Sadie Schulte & Ellie Schulte as well as her sisters Esther (Bernard) Bowman and her twin sister Rose (P.J.) Sterk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Kraft and her brother Paul Hohweiler.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 5-7pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Funeral Services will be Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Minister Mark Fugate officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Cleves, OH. Memorials are suggested to a Church or Charity of choice.
