Rita M. Vanderpohl

Rita M. Vanderpohl of Harrison, Ohio passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Western Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Born on January 13, 1927 in St. Bernard, Ohio to Frank and Catherine (nee: Wessling) Kinker, she was 89 years old.

Rita married the late John Vanderpohl on June 10, 1953 in Enochsburg, Indiana.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Harrison.

Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who took pride in caring for her family.  Whether it was taking her boys to baseball or babysitting the grandchildren, she cherished her time with all of them.  Rita was an avid gardener.  She enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens throughout the years and canning much of the produce as well.  Puzzles were also a favorite past time of hers and you could always find the devoted catholic reciting her rosary daily.

She will be dearly missed by her children Diane Guster of Cincinnati, Donna Metzler (Biz) of Harrison, Debbie Seal (Mic) of Cincinnati, Kathy Murtaugh (Dan) of New Alsace, IN, Mary Vanderpohl of Harrison, Art Vanderpohl (Lisa) of Cincinnati, Rose Watson (Dennis) of West Chester, OH, and John Vanderpohl (Ann) of Harrison; along with 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Paul, Robert, Ray and Orville Kinker plus her sister, Mary Jane Geis.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 9-10am at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison.    Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Church in Harrison.  Father Jeff Kemper officiating.  Burial to follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer Association c/o the funeral home.
