Ralph D Smith

Ralph David Smith, age 90, of Harrison, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, in Cincinnati, Ohio. A lifetime resident of Harrison, he was born on June 22, 1932, to David Daniel and Amy Beatrice (Blankenship) Smith, Jr.

Ralph served in the United States Army during the Korean War (1951-1954) and was assigned at Fort Richardson Army Base, Anchorage, Alaska.

On December 17, 1955, he married Louanna (Seeley) Smith at the New Trenton Methodist Church in New Trenton, Indiana.

He worked as a uranium chemical operator at the Fernald Feed Materials Production Center (retired 1994) and at the General Motors Automotive Plant in Norwood Ohio (retired 1984).  He was also a member of the Yeager-Benson Memorial American Legion Post 199 and the Harrison Senior Center.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Louanna Seeley, his three children Victor David (Elaine) Smith, Ricky Frank (Carolyn) Smith, and Judy Jo (Martina Batten) Smith, two grandchildren Zachary Charles Smith and Matthew Sheldon (Logan) Smith, and two great-grandchildren Kora Madelyn Smith and Korbyn August Smith.  He is also survived by his brother Joe Crank as well as many nephews and nieces.

Preceded in death by his parents David Daniel and Amy Beatrice Smith, Jr. and siblings James Crank, Juanita Souders, Virginia Lee Smith, Barbara Smith Brown, Charles Smith, and Harold Smith.

Ralph enjoyed traveling, gardening, horse and dog racing, and card playing.  In 2005, he won an Upper Deck Card sweepstake trip to Orlando, Florida to meet and have golf lessons from golf great Tiger Woods.

Visitation will be held at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services officiated by Pastor Joshua Long at 1:00 p.m. all held at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030.  Military honors to follow by the Harrison Honor Guard and United States Army.

In lieu of flowers, family members request that donations be made in memory of Ralph D. Smith to Hospice of Cincinnati West in care of the funeral home.
