Polly A. Crawford, a cherished member of her community and loving matriarch, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Harrison, Ohio, at the age of 87. Born on December 19, 1938, the daughter of Henry and Addie West, in Richland, Missouri, Polly’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering kindness and the profound impact she made on those around her.
She met her late husband, Rudolph "Rudy" Crawford, Sr., while working as a cook at The Coffee Pot in Harrison where Rudy would frequent every morning. They married on December 26, 1981.
Polly dedicated her career as a Cafeteria Manager where she was the main cook with Fernald until the facility closed down permanently in 2006. This is where she nourished not just the bodies, but also the spirits of countless individuals. Her warmth extended beyond her profession. She was a beacon of love and support for her family and friends alike. A graduate of Richland High School, Polly carried the values imbued in her education throughout her life.
Once an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Harrison, she found joy in her faith and community. Polly was also a participant in the Fernald Retirement Group and the Harrison Senior Center. She took delight in music, embraced the joy of travel, and had a special affection for children, cherishing every moment spent in their company.
Polly’s family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her beloved children, Jacob Werner, Logan Werner, and Loraine Werner along with her daughter-in-law, Julie Werner. She took great pleasure in the laughter and love brought by her grandchildren Matthew (Amy) Wettering, Ashley Wolfe, and Nathaniel (Elaina) Werner as well as Aaron George, Kevin George, David George, Victor LoBouno, Joni LoBouno, and Randy Crawford, and the joys of her life were multiplied by the presence of her great-grandchildren, Jorja Wettering and Autumn Wolfe. Also surviving are her step-children, Teresa (Rick Rice) Wolpert, Karen (David) George, Randy Crawford, and Anita LoBouno.
Polly is now reunited in eternal rest with her loving husband, Rudy Crawford, Sr., and her dearly departed parents, Henry and Addie West. During her life, she also had to mourn the loss of her beloved sons, Kenny "Taco" Werner and Allen Werner as well as her siblings, Baryn West, Francis West, Robert West, Leroy West, Gladys Henry, Shirley McDoell, Almeta Crossland, Linda West, and Eddie West.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, forever remembered for her loving spirit, her kind heart, and the light she brought to the lives she touched. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life during a visitation held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home in Harrison, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, with Rev., Fr. Paul Ruwe officiating, to be held at 12:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 10010 Carolina Trace Road in Harrison, Ohio. A burial will follow Mass at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Harrison, Ohio.
As we bid farewell to Polly A. Crawford, we find solace knowing her legacy of love, compassion, and joy will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
