Merlyn J. Boggs, age 85, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, in Batesville, Indiana.
Born the son of George and Rosie Boggs on July 31, 1938, in Cleves, Ohio, Merlyn proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean conflict, and then married Lois Hays on September 22, 1962, in Newport, Kentucky. He was a member of the American Legion Post #199 and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #7570 of Harrison.
Merlyn is survived by his loving wife, Lois Boggs, his children Tracy (Linda) Boggs and Timothy Boggs. He was also survived by and was a proud grandfather to Jeff (Ashley) Jones, Derek (Andrea) Jones, Timothy Boggs, Skylynn Goett, Brooklyn Goett, and Sunflower “Sunny” James, and his great-grandchildren, Liam Jones and Aubriella Jones. Merlyn is also survived by his sister Viginia Hamlin.
Preceded in death by his parents George and Rosie Boggs, his daughter Christina Jones, and his siblings, McKinnly Boggs, George Boggs, Carolyn Reynolds, and Rosemary Jones.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m Pastor Shawn Crisman officiating, all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030. A burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery in Bright, Indiana, with Military honors provided by the United States Army and the Harrison Honor Guard.
