Melvin V. Thiemann, age 89 of Green Township passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Harrison Trail Health Campus in Harrison, Ohio. He was born March 28, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Known to many as “The Friendly Butcher”, Melvin graduated from Elder High School in 1950. He was co-owner of Krummen’s Meats for many years, member of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church, former Chief Ranger of Catholic Order of Foresters Gonzaga Court No.1572, founding member and past commodore of the North Bend Boat Club, and he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Melvin is survived by his children Carol (Kevin) Robards, Susan (Jerry) Charls, Judy (Christopher) Butler, Beverly (Mark) Sicking and Mary (Gary) Troha. Grandfather of Josh (Michelle), Eric and Alison Hayfer; Hannah, Kyle and Miranda Charls; Emily, Molly and Sabrina Butler; Katie (Mark) Bean, Rachael, Erika and Jeremy Sicking; Andrew and Elyse Troha. Brother of Diane (Joe) Rettig and Bill (Myra) Thiemann.
Preceded in death by his parents Walter and Clara Thiemann, son Robert and brothers Walter and Marlin Thiemann.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 17, 2021, 10:30 A.M. with Father Jeff Kemper officiating at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church, 4366 Bridgetown Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. Burial will follow at Bridgetown Cemetery with military honors provided by United States Army and Harrison Honor Guard.
