Mary Catherine Gillespie of West Harrison, IN passed away on October 22, 2015 at Ridgewood Health Campus in Lawrenceburg, IN at 92 years of age. Born on June 27, 1923 in Mt. Carmel, IN she was the daughter of Walter & Edna (Stevens) Grubbs. Mary will be dearly missed by her children, Fred Gillespie of Lakeland, FL, Ernest (Ruth) Gillespie of Lawrenceburg, IN, Judy (Daniel) Brock of Harrison, OH, Betty (Bill) Meyer of Dover, IN, Rosemary (Clark) Moore of West Harrison, IN and Sandra (Joe) Green of Batesville, IN; her many loving grandchildren, several great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren; along with her sisters Betty Feller of Harrison, OH, Helen Grubbs of Brookville, IN, Blanche Baugh of Okeana, OH and Thelma Grubbs of Brookville, IN. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Lester Gillespie, sons Charles, Donald & Larry Gillespie and her siblings Russell, Carl, Floyd, Goldie, Grace & Mildred Grubbs. Mary helped everybody and loved everyone and they loved her as well. She loved ALL of her family -- her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. If someone was sick she would say, "I'll pray for you." She enjoyed family reunions and functions with friends as well. She didn't mind making new friends with a stranger and always wanted the family to all get along with each other. Her trademark was kicking her leg over her head' as if she was a karate instructor. She was also known to pack a powerful punch, the right cross. Energetic as they come was her, but never call her old. She did not have a problem in expressing her feelings towards you. Mary was a person you could talk to about anything and was a friend to all. Mary loved to work at Schenley's, she raised tobacco and loved to sing and dance. She liked apple cider and liked it a little bitey'. She would rather drive her own vehicle instead of you taking her where she wanted to go. If you caught fish, she would fix them up to eat in time for supper. The family learned a lot from her. She had a hobby of making the best peanut butter fudge. Then soon as the sweets were finished she would pack her car with the candy and start on her route to drop off to several individuals and businesses that couldn't wait to devour her tasty treats. She's also been known to fix dinners from time to time out of her love of cooking and caring for others to put a smile on their faces and a full lunch for the day. No charge just out of love. Every week she loved to sing karaoke. Her favorite song was Coalminers Daughter,' she loved to sing this song. It didn't matter if it was for a few people or a crowd. If she didn't have a microphone she would pick up a hairbrush and pretend it was a microphone. Mary also enjoyed watching Jack Snyder sing and perform at Joyce's Family Diner. Now she is up above with her three sons, husband, brother, sisters, parents and others from her past, sitting around a large table laughing and showing everyone her love and caring that she always had to give. If you knew her, you were lucky to have her in your life. Mary is truly missed but remember she is smiling down on everyone right now.
