Martha Rose (Nee Gale) Carden

Carden Martha Rose (nee Gale) of Harrison, age 85, passed away July 10, 2008. Martha graduated from Cincinnati College of Music in 1945. She taught music in public school as well as private piano lessons. She was a choir director, organist and an accomplished pianist. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary sorority for women educators. She was past president of the Harrison High School Alumni and was a member of the Village Historical Society and the Ohio Music Education Association. She was honored the national Valley Forge Teacher Medal award. She was a long time member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She is survived by several cousins and was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Carden and her parents Albert and Clara Gale. Visitation is at the Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, Ohio on Saturday, July 12th, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. John's United Church of Christ through the funeral home.
