Loren C. Mcqueen

July 15, 1936 — April 11, 2018

Loren C. McQueen, age 81, of Montgomery, Ohio formerly of Harrison, Ohio passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Twin Lakes Retirement Community.  Loren was born in Dearborn County, Indiana to Robert J. and Verna (nee Smith) McQueen, on July 15, 1936.  He went to Bright High School in Bright, Indiana, and attended the University of Cincinnati.  He married Betty L. King on October 6, 1962, in Harrison, Ohio.

Loren worked at Fernald (National Lead Company of Ohio) from 1956 until 1965, excluding 2 years that he served in the US Army.  He worked in finance and accounting for Procter & Gamble from 1965 until retirement in July 1991.  Through the years, he served in many capacities at various churches.  He also helped build five Habitat houses in and near Lawrenceburg.  He enjoyed square dancing and many types of woodworking, carving small intricate items out of wood.  He crafted many wonderful pieces which he generously shared with others.  One of the experienced carvers described him as a natural at wood carvings.

Loren is survived by his wife of 56 years Betty McQueen.  Brother of Norman (Michele) McQueen, Beulah Erwin, Doris Niccum, Lois Oxley, Virginia McQueen, Marilyn McQueen and Janet (Gary) Barnett.  Uncle of Beverly Huston, Kim (Ron) Boston, Wes Lanter, Neil (Tammy) McQueen, Bruce (Nancy) McQueen, Duane (Teresa) McQueen and Kevin McQueen.

Loren is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Verna McQueen and his two older brothers Harold and Carlisle McQueen.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 16, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Services at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Scott Stephans officiating all at Dearborn Hills United Methodist Church, 25365 State Line Road, Lawrenceburg, Indiana 47025.  Burial to follow at Gibson Cemetery, Bright, Indiana.
