Lizzie Irene Meece

July 17, 1927 — March 28, 2011

Lizzie Irene Meece, age 83 of Harrison, OH passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at Shawneesprings in Harrison, OH. Born July 17, 1927 in Burdine Valley, KY she was the daughter of the late Perry & Sarah Etta (Whitson) Price. She was the baby of 9 kids. She married David Franklin Meece on September 17, 1955 in Rossville, GA and he preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 2004. Some thoughts from Alex She was a good cook. She would help me with word search and had the family over for Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving dinners. From Alysia - was a special memory of her buying her a doll every Christmas. She was well known for her cole slaw, banana pudding and potato salad. She loved and was committed to all of her grandchildren. She and dad would be at many school functions. For all the grandchildren, she and dad would be at the sports, baseball, soccer, basketball & swim meets. She was also a faithful wife and mother. She worked at RCA, Campbell-Hausfeld, American Power, Dover Elevator, Saturday Knights and JTM. She also loved the Lord and was faithful. She was a member of Chappelow Ridge Baptist Church and formerly Faith Baptist Church. At church she played the piano, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was an example in her community. I can remember her Saturdays, she would clean house and iron clothes for church on Sundays. She and dad were also involved with us kids in baseball and softball, and did not miss a game. She also had many hobbies. She quilted, did embroidery as a youth and she bowled on a league on Thursday and Friday evenings. Her bowling team was also on Channel 12-WKRC for a bowling tournament and her team won first place. She was lead bowler, first place many times and bowled for over 30 years. She also loved traveling and took many trips with the family as well as trips out west after Dad retired. One cute story Dad loved mom's cooking. She had many times made cornbread with meals. After 30 years, she found out that Dad did not like cornbread but did try to eat hers. They both loved each other till the end and never was there an argument or fight between them. Lizzie is survived by her sons & daughter-in-laws Roy Dean & Becky Meece of Hampton, NC & David Neal & Monica Meece of Bright, IN and her daughter & son-in-law Rosetta & Gary Bennett of Chappelow Ridge. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Devin, David (Beth) & Jordan Meece, Stephanie (Bruce) Smith and Alex & Alysia Bennett and great granddaughter Rachel Smith.
