Leonard Nowlin

Leonard "Red" Nowlin passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 in Harrison, OH at the age of 85. Born July 6, 1930 in Harrison OH, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Getz) Nowlin. Leonard married the late Joyce Dorothy (Stine) Nowlin June 17, 1952 in Price Hill, OH at St. Lawrence Church. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2000. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Red was a United States Navy veteran and worked at US Shoe as well as J&J Packaging for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member at the American Legion Post #199, as well as being active in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a fireman and medic for the Harrison Fire Department for over 25 years. During his time with the Fire Department, Leonard was a former Captain and named Temporary Chief. Leonard is survived by his children Steve (Mary) Nowlin, Katrena (David) Erk, and Diane (late Joel) McIntosh and the late Leonard Robert "Bobby" Nowlin Jr. He will also be missed by his siblings late Catherine (late Les) Beardsley, late Walter Nowlin, Florence (late Richard) Helms, Norma McConnell, Mary (late Jake) Messerschmidt, late Joseph Nowlin, late Elda (John) Richards, and the late Thomas (June) Nowlin Jr. He was the grandfather of the late Brian Clark, Stevie (Julie) Nowlin, Christy Nowlin, Andrew McIntosh, Nikole Erk, David (Jordanne) Erk Jr, and Sarah (Ross) Schweitzer and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, July 20, 2015 from 5-8 pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home Harrison, OH. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, July 21, at St. John the Baptist Church in Harrison, OH at 10:00 am with Father Jeff Kemper officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery with military graveside rights conducted by the Harrison Funeral Detail. Memorials may be directed towards the family.
