John Richard Sipes

John Richard Sipes, age 65 of Harrison, OH passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Born March 10, 1947 in Cincinnati, OH he was the son of Richard & Ruth (Tanksley) Sipes. He married Susan Atkinson on June 11, 1970 in Xenia, OH. John retired from Sears as a Sales Associate for over 20 years and also worked as a Security Guard for Allied Barton. He was a 1967 graduate of Norwood High School where he was one of Norwood's elite wrestlers as a heavyweight. He also played football for Norwood & received a scholarship to play at Central State where he graduated in 1971. John was an avid fisherman & hunter and loved the Bengals & Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a member of the Walnut Hills F&AM Lafayette Lodge. John is survived by his wife Susan Sipes, son John Richard Sipes II & his wife Becky from Amelia, OH and grandchildren Trent, Noel, Katilyn & Kelsey. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law Marilyn Atkinson of Xenia, OH; his brotherin-law Charles L. (Marcie) Atkinson of Independence, VA and sister-in-laws Cathy (George) Cain of Xenia, OH, Joe Anna (David) Ayers of Lebanon, OH & Jeanne (Stephan) Winkelmann of Rockford, MI along with numerous nieces & nephews. Memorial Services will be Friday, January 4, 2013 at 2pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society c/o the funeral home.
