John Vernon Reid

John Vernon Reid, age 97, of West Harrison, Indiana, passed away in Harrison, Ohio on Friday, February 10, 2023.

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 8, 1925, to Wilson Reid and Alpha (McQueen) Reid.  Mr. Reid was known around the area as a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II.  After serving a little over two years with the Navy, John married Dorothy Pennington Reid on June 28, 1947, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.  He worked as a repairman in the autobody industry.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #199.

John was survived by his children Peggy Ravenscraft, Larry (Paulette) Reid, and Doug (Sondra) Reid, seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by his parents Wilson and Alpha Reid, brothers Gene Reid and Glen Reid, and sisters Charlotte, Rose, June, and Marie.

A visitation service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. all held at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030.  Military honors will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana by the United States Navy and the Harrison Honor Guard.
