John “Jack” Albert Rauen, age 85 passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his home in Bright, IN. Born January 5, 1931 in Covington, KY he was the son of Albert & Virginia (Curran) Rauen.
On July 29, 1950 Jack married Virginia Rahe in Ft. Mitchell, KY. After 27 years, he retired from R.H. Donnelly then went into business with his sons, Michael & Thomas, opening 3 Skyline Chili Restaurants in Newport, Blue Ash & Latonia. He also served his country proudly in the US Marine Corp retiring in 1952 after 4 years of service.
Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years Virginia Rauen, his children Jack Rauen Jr. (Connie), Michael Rauen (Darci), Debbie Schemer (Phil) & Thomas Rauen (Conna). He will also be missed by his 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and brothers & sisters-in-laws Pat Ono, Suzane Hilvert, Jerry Rahe & Chris Bissmeyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren Jeff, Tommy & Chaz, great grandchild Landon, sister Pat Zembrodt and sister & brothers-in-law Thomas Rahe, James Rahe & Georgian Dix.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00am with Father Edward Shine officiating at St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross Church in Bright, IN. Memorials are suggested to Our Hospice of Jennings County c/o Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 513, Harrison, OH 45030.
