John Arthur Blakely

John Arthur Blakely, age 74, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Born January 28, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Delos Blakely and Agnes Marie (McGee) Schmid, and John Schmid.

John married Judy Schoales July 8, 1967 in Niagara Falls, New York.  Graduated from Brother Rice High School in Chicago, Illinois and received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Troy University in Troy, Alabama.  After retiring from the United States Air Force John began working for G.E. as a project Manager.  John was a member of St. John the Baptist Harrison, Ohio, a Secular Franciscan, and 4th Degree Knight with most Holy Rosary Assembly # 2170.

Survived by his loving wife of 50 years Judy Blakely of Harrison, Ohio. Daughters Carrie (Billy) Gray of Rochester, New York, Chris (Tony Stocco) Blakely of Westerville, Ohio and Michelle (Jason) Poling of Harrison, Ohio.  He was Papa of Joey, Ashton, Parker, Haley, Vinny, Emily, Austin, Marqurite and Chrissy.  Great Papa of Owen.  Brother of Robert (Judi) Schmid of Chicago, Illinois, Kathy (Larry) Allen of San Antonio, Texas, Peggy (Gary) Bahre of Fultz, Illinois and Maryellen (Don) Wessendorf of Chicago, Illinois.

John is preceded in death by his parents Delos and Agnes Marie Schmid, John Schmid and his daughter, Jessica Blakely.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with Knights of Columbus Council # 2633, Most Holy Rosary Assembly # 2170 services at 7:30 P.M. at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home 215 Broadway Street Harrison, Ohio 45030.  Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, April 20, 2018 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church Harrison, Ohio with Father Jeffery Kemper as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery Hamilton, Ohio with military honors provided by the U.S. Air force and the Harrison Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be directed to St. John the Baptist Building Fund c/o Jackman Hensley Funeral Home.
