J.M. "Jake" Allen

J.M. "Jake" Allen, age 77 of W. Harrison, IN passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at St. Andrews Health Care Center in Batesville, IN. Born September 12, 1934 in Clay Co., KY he was the son of the late Henry & Dew (Morgan) Allen. Jake retired from the Ford Motor Co. in 1997 and he farmed on his 102 acres. He sold Maico Motorcycles and collected old autos, trucks & farm equipment. He worked with the Department of Natural Resources planting over 26,000 trees in the Indiana Hardwood Program and in 1996 he received the Indiana Conservation Farmer of the Year award. Jake also loved to play guitar. He married Delores Stamper in Loveland, OH on December 25, 1953 and was a member of the Kilwinning Lodge F&AM 356 in Cincinnati, OH. Jake is survived by his wife Delores Allen, daughter Linda (Dennis) Steelman of W. Harrison, IN and sons David (Kim) Allen of New Albany, IN and Daniel (Bridget) Allen of West Chester, OH. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Aaron & Devon Steelman, Benjamin, Joshua & Morgan Allen, great grandchildren Conrad & Henrik Steelman and brother Paul Allen of Loveland, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Bethel Glardon. Visitation will be Saturday, November 12, 2011; 11am with Masonic services at 10:45am. Funeral services will be at 1pm all at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Gardens, Cincinnati, OH.
