Jesse Byrd

Jesse Byrd, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026. He was born on October 19, 1939 in Clay County, Kentucky the son of Roscoe and Maudie (Callahan) Byrd.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Betty Hall Byrd, whom he married on February 8, 2005.

He is also survived by his children: Jessie Lee Smith (Doug), Kathy L. Henson (Eddie), Sandra Davis-Skeen (Darryl), and Michael Jason Byrd (Erin); his grandchildren, Michaela Smith, Joshua Henson, Amber Rouse, Jeremy Davis, and Ethan Byrd; and ten great-grandchildren. Dear Brother of Dollie (the late Kenny), Jeanette (Raymond), Wanda, Patty (Jim), Teresa (David), he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Maudie (Callahan) Byrd; his sister, Louise Bowles; and his brothers, Billy Roy, and Richard Byrd.

Jesse retired from Ford Motor Company. He also leaves behind his church family at West Harrison Pentecostal Tabernacle, under the leadership of Pastor Wade Hicks; many friends; and his stepchildren and step grandchildren.

The family appreciates the prayers, kindness, and support shown during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Wade Hicks officiating all at West Harrison Pentecostal Tabernacle, 752 Harrison Brookville Road, West Harrison, Indiana 47060. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery Bright, Indiana.
