Jerry Whitmire

Jerry Whitmire, age 76 of W. Harrison, IN, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at his home. Born May 4 1937, in Stamford, TX he was the son of Jerome & Willie (Davis) Whitmire. Jerry received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and his MBA from Xavier University. He retired from GE in Evendale as an engineer. He loved farming, hunting, and being outdoors and eventually went into hay farming. He was a licensed professional engineer in the state of Ohio, a licensed pilot who loved to fly and loved working with electronics. He was an avid sports fan and a lifetime member of the NRA. Jerry was a member of the Shawnee Valley Dulcimer Society where he was the soundman. Most of all, Jerry loved his family, home, and country. Jerry is survived by his wife Janis (Hightower) Whitmire; son John (Sue) Whitmire and daughter Mellissa (Mel) Gayer. He will also be missed by his daughter-in-law Sien Whitmire, grandchildren Chris & Courtney Gayer, Sara & Matt Whitmire and Daniel & Donald Whitmire and great grandchildren Chance, Hayden & Kayla, Andrew & Jacob and Nathan & Kamryn and siblings Dan (Carolyn) Whitmire, Gary Whitmire and Delwin (Mary) Whitmire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Don Whitmire. Family and friends may visit Thursday, July 11, 2013, from 3-4pm followed by services at 4pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating.
