James Seldon Rankin Jr.

James Seldon Rankin, Jr., age 80, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Bridgetown, Ohio. He was born the son of James and Adelaide (Duttle) Rankin on June 13, 1944, at Speers Memorial Hospital in Dayton, Kentucky.

He was baptized at Grace Methodist Church and graduated from Newport High School in 1962 where he played basketball, football, and baseball. James retired from Schiff, Kreidler-Shell, Inc. working in insurance sales. He enjoyed working in the yard, hanging out at his son’s house, a diehard Bengals fan, and loved to play golf.

James is survived by his children Jimmy (Bonnie) Rankin, Jodi (Michael “Mike”) Griffith, and Robyn (Daniel “Dan”) Helm, 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Bickers, Jessica Rankin, Kelsie Rankin, Danielle (Cody) Gum, Laura (Justin) Boyce, Breann (Cheyenne) Krier, Adam (Amber) Krier, Michael (Lindsey) Griffith, Josh Griffith, Preston (Apryl) Helm, and Olivia Helm, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Marylou (David) Simons and Debbie (Thomas “Tommy”) Noble.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 1:00 P.M. until time of memorial service at 3:00 P.M., with Pastor Shawn Crisman officiating, all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Crescent Springs, Kentucky.
