James Kober, age 82 years of Harrison, OH passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Ripley Crossing in Milan, IN. Born March 12, 1931 in Brookville, IN and was the son of Henry & Grace (Grubbs) Kober. Mr. Kober was a machinist and also worked at the U.S. Shoe Corporation. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and is a member of the Yeager Benson American Legion Post 199 for 60+ years. He was also a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Harrison. He married Hope S. (Grubbs) Kober in Covington, KY in May 1959. James loved watching western's like Bonanza & Big Valley and also movies with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood in them. He loved gardening but most of all he loved being with his family & grandchildren. He taught Peggy how to work on cars and April how to do things around the house like finances, etc. James is survived by his children, April Cook of Harrison, OH and Peggy (Scott) Berryman of Sunman, IN. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Jason Jenkins & Steven Berryman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hope Kober on September 2, 2006, his son Jimmy Kober, his sister Betty Beesley & his brother Harry Kober. Visitation will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 9am until time of services at 11am at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating. Burial with military honors by the Harrison Funeral Detail will follow services at Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison, OH. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 199 c/o the funeral home.
