Herbert E. Benson

Herbert Edward Benson, age 79 years of Harrison, OH passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006 at his home. Born March 29, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH he was the son of the late Edward Benson & Ester (Smith Junium) He married Wanda Haas in 1993. He worked for Fernald as a machinist. Mr. Benson was a WWII Army Veteran, charter member of VFW #7570, member of Lawrenceburg Eagles Area # 2018, Volunteer fireman for Harrison, OH, lifetime member & two time Past Commander of American Legion Post 199, lifetime member of Am Vets and member of Forty & Eight (40/8) and member of the Funeral Detail. Mr. Benson is survived by his wife of 13 years, Wanda Benson; children Herb (Darlene) Benson of Cincinnati, OH; Rusty (Judy) Benson of Harrison, OH; Dennis (Cathy) Benson of Cincinnati, OH; Joy (Ron) McAdams of Harrison, OH and Willy (Cindy) Benson of Harrison, OH; step children Randy (Robin) Sacksteder, D. Michele (Robert) Keith, Steven (Teresa) Haas & late Craig (Karen) Sacksteder; grandchildren Patrick, Jason, Amy, Adam, Erica, Christopher, Molly &Lyndsay Benson, Cammie & Kendra McAdams; great grandchildren Quinn, Cade, Ben & Joe Benson; former wives Betty (Greenham) Benson & late Billie Mae (Sacksteder) Benson. Visitation will be Wed. August 2, 2006 from 4-8 P.M. with American Legion/VFW Services at 8:00 P.M. Services will be Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. all at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Amber Garrett Fund or American Legion Gift to the Yanks.
