Hammond "Boney" Hillman Roudebush, 100.6 years old of Harrison, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Shawnee Springs Health Center. Born March 4, 1914 to Francis "Frank" B. and May Roudebush, he was one of four children. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Harriet Gilmore (Harold) and Katherine Hunt (Jack) along with twin brother Markland Roudebush (Mary). Married for 64 years to his high school sweetheart and loving wife Katherine (Yeager) Roudebush, they were joined in marriage on March 4, 1939. She passed away in 2003. Hammond is survived by daughter Patricia Hill (Jerry), son, Dick Roudebush (Karen), four grandchildren, Brent Hill (Lisa), Brad Hill (Mae), Kelly Hopkins & Kim Roudebush, eight great grandchildren, Lauren, Nathan, Erin, Wade, Luke, Brooklynn, Abbey, & Liam and many nieces and nephews. Hammond retired from General Motors, Fisher Body in Hamilton, OH. "Boney" never retired as an active musician playing bass for a variety of big bands throughout the tri-state area. From the 1930's to 2008 he actively pursued his great talent and passion for music. He played with many of the great name Big Bands' of the 30's and 40's at Beverly Hills Country Club and Coney Island Moonlight Gardens. For decades he played for many of the finest local orchestras. The 1932 Harrison High School graduate was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harrison. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and patriarch of the family his integrity, smile and zest for life touches his family and friends throughout his life. His friendships bridged many generations. God just hired a great bass player. God bless "Boney" Roudebush. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Friday, October 3, 2014 with the Funeral Service at 10am on Saturday, October 4, 2014 all at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Rev. Joshua Long officiating with burial to follow in the Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison, OH. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Harrison VOCE care of the funeral home.
