Glenna S. Beesley, age 95 of Brookville, Indiana died on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at the Brookville Healthcare Center. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County having lived on Mortashed Road in Whitewater Township the majority of her life.
Born on November 24, 1927, she was the daughter of Glenn and Carrie (Mire) Beesley. She was one of seven children. Her two older brothers, Floyd, and Delmar, were killed in WW II. The remaining siblings (Orville, Verna and Hazel) have passed, but one sister, Bonnie Cochran, of Bright, Indiana survives, as do three nieces, three nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Glenna was a cosmetologist, owning her business in Harrison for many years. After retirement she became a loving caregiver for her parents and sister, Verna. Glenna was rarely without a camera in her hand and she took great pleasure in taking pictures of every family event. These pictures, meticulously placed in albums in chronological order provided an excellent family history along with her daily diary. She was an avid reader of the daily Cincinnati Enquirer and the weekly Harrison and Brookville papers, as well as reading several books a week. A dedicated Cincinnati Reds fan, she spent many hours watching games on TV or traveling to Riverfront Stadium to watch them play in person. She enjoyed drawing and in 1951 using photos from the Cincinnati Enquirer, she sketched players in action and sent them to the players for signatures; these she also kept in an album. Glenna served as a map reader for the many summer vacations taken to southern and western states, with nieces and nephews invited to go along providing them with fond memories. Mowing grass, canning vegetables from the garden and boating at Brookville Lake were also summer activities that Glenna enjoyed. She was a favorite aunt to many of her nieces and nephews, who will sadly miss her.
