Glenn J Klingensmith

Glenn J. Klingensmith, age 84 died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at his home in Franklin County, Indiana. Born July 26, 1930 in Markle, PA he was the son of Lloyd & Blanche (Downing) Klingensmith. He married Peggy (Buttelwerth) Klingensmith on February 25, 1984 in Newport, KY. Glenn was an avid reader and history buff. He was an aviation enthusiast and enjoyed flying single engine aircraft in his earlier years. In his career, his travels took him to a number of places including Vietnam where he worked as a private contractor building air strips and roads from 1968 - 1972 and Louisiana where he developed an appreciation for the Cajun culture. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Glenn enjoyed antique cars and cooking, especially apple pies for friends and family. Glenn worked at the former Burrell Construction in New Kensington, PA for many years before moving out of state and retiring in 1995 from Cargill Salt as a terminal superintendent in Clarksville, IN. He also loved visiting and talking with friends and family, loved his dog Shadow and enjoyed fishing. Glenn is survived by his beloved wife Peggy Klingensmith; step children Michael McGinnis & Mychelle (Don) Armstrong; children Terri Jean (Jeff) Katora, Jann Leigh Pollick; step grandchildren Sarah Baxter & Logan Armstrong; grandchildren Spike Katora, Ryan (Angela) Katora, Lindsey (Shawn) Katora-Pityk, Ben Pollick, and Abby Pollick; and great grandchildren Ataleigh, Lillian & Ethan Pityk. He will also be missed by his sisters Sally Marks & Jerri Klingensmith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Kim Susan Kuruc and brothers Lloyd Jr, Lynes & Samuel Klingensmith. A Memorial Mass will be Friday, October 24, 2014 at 1:00pm at Holy Guardian Angel Church, Cedar Grove.
