With full hearts and deep gratitude for her life, we share the passing of Geneva Mae Grubbs, a deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Geneva was gently called home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2025, at the age of 91. We find peace in knowing she was welcomed into Heaven with the loving words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Born in Jackson County, Kentucky on September 24, 1934, to the late Everett and Myrtle (Robinson) St. John, Geneva was a woman of great strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family. Raised alongside six beloved brothers, she carried those early bonds of family and resilience with her throughout her life.
She worked at Campbell Hausfeld for 30 years, where her dedication, work ethic, and warm spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Beyond her professional life, she had a true gift for bringing people together. She found joy in the simple pleasures—gardening, canning, reading her Bible, and most of all, cooking for her family. Her legendary biscuit and gravy breakfasts became a cherished weekend tradition, with an open seat always waiting at her table. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, proudly cheering them on in all they did. A devoted fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, she rarely missed a game and supported her teams with unwavering enthusiasm and pride.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elbert Clinton “Nub” Grubbs Sr.; her brothers Fred, Glenn, Ralph, and Ronnie St. John; her cherished grandson, Christopher Redd; and great-grandson, Andrew Christy.
Geneva passed peacefully in her home of 54 years, surrounded by the love of her children: Ruth (late James) Hensley, Kathy Swales, Wanda (Richard) Donawerth, Doug (Nancy) Sandlin, Mary (Bill) Redd, Buddy Grubbs, and stepdaughters Pat (late James) Vines and Judy (Larry) Baker. She is survived by her devoted brothers, Raymond (Bobbie) St. John, Everett James (Carol) St. John; her dear sisters-in-law, Peggy St. John and Betty St. John. Geneva was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished with all her heart.
In keeping with Geneva’s generous and caring spirit, memorial donations may be made to the Harrison, Ohio Life Squad.
Private services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Cemetery.
