Fred St. John, age 83 of Harrison, OH passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Shawnee Springs Health Care Center of Harrison. On October 8, 1930 he was born to Everett & Myrtle (Robinson) St. John in Jackson County, Kentucky. He married Poksun Yu in Korea, on October 17, 1970.
Fred served his country for over 20 years, first in the US Air Force and then retiring from the US Army, serving in both Korea & Vietnam. After that, he went onto work for the Southwest School District for 29 years. He was a member of the Bright Christian Church, Snow Lodge #193 F&AM, the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite, the American Legion Post #199 and VFW Post #7570.
His family said Fred was just an ordinary guy who loved to garden and visit with people, especially those that were unable to get out on their own. Everyone always had something good to say about Fred. He loved his church and being with friends and family. Fred will truly be missed by all of them.
In addition to his beloved wife, Poksun, he will be missed by his son and daughter-in-law Andy & Wendy St. John of Okeana, OH, his grandchildren, Megan, Nathan & Rebecca St. John, along with his sister Geneva Grubbs of Harrison, plus his brothers, Everett J. St. John of Berea, KY, Raymond St. John of West Harrison, IN and Ronnie St. John of West Harrison, IN. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Glenn and Ralph St. John.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, 2014, from 11am-2pm with a 2:00pm Funeral Service immediately following all at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH. Pastor Mark Fugate officiating. Masonic Service and Scottish Rite Ring Service at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison with Military Graveside Rites by the Harrison Funeral Detail.
