Ethel Eileen Huneke

d. August 21, 2014

Ethel E. (nee Kops) Huneke, age 85 of Cincinnati, OH formerly of Batesville, IN. Loving mother of Donald, Gary, & Janet, beloved grandmother of Shawna Johnson and Sean Huneke, adoring great grandmother of Gage and Vivian passed peacefully in her sleep on August 21, 2014. The 1946 graduate of Batesville High School was a member of Adams Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 3183. Preceded in death by her husband Mervin J. Huneke and her parents Henry and Minnie Kops; brothers John H. Kops (Mildred), Ralph Kops, and sister Esther Smith (George); and nephew Dennis Kops. Survived by sister-in-law Dorothy Kops (Ralph) and nieces Judy Jungkunz (John), Carol Siebert, Becky White (Mike), and Elaine E. Bedle (Eric), as well as multiple generations of nieces and nephews. Ethel was a gifted artisan in stained glass and loved designing and crafting intricate pieces to display and gift to family and friends for over 25 years. She was also a sports fan and could often be spotted enjoying Sean's soccer, basketball, and baseball games; the Bengals and Reds; but most especially her beloved Xavier University Men's Basketball team. Ethel was deeply devoted to her family and relished the family get togethers. Nineteen years ago Ethel found her second calling operating the family business, Norwood Delite Creamy Whip. She often put in 10 hour days making her famous chili, syrups, brownies, and the like. It truly became her second home and even toward the end she questioned the family to be sure the creamy whip was running to perfection. It will be hard to carry on without her guidance. Services will be Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 5-8pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, 215 E. Broadway St., Harrison, OH. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 27, 2014; 10:00am at Adams Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Tornes officiating. Burial will follow at Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to XU Men's Basketball, VITAS Hospice, Adams Lutheran Church or Disabled American Veterans c/o the funeral home.
