Edward Lee Malterer

Edward Lee Malterer of W. Harrison, IN passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Shawneespring Care Center in Harrison, OH. Born January 30, 1926 in Elyria, OH he was the son of the late Edward & Lillian (Hooker) Malterer. He married Orchid Burnett on July 31, 1948 and she preceded him in death on August 23, 2011. Edward graduated from High School in Elyria, OH, attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, Baldwin Wallace University & received his doctorate from Ball State University. The US Navy veteran of WWII retired as a Professor of Music at Morehead State and played in the Pittsburgh, PA & Lexington, KY symphonies. Edward is survived by his daughter Donna (Ron) Schlemmer of Harrison, OH. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 2 brothers & 1 sister. Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2011 from 5-7pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Graveside Services with Military Rites by the Harrison Funeral Detail will be Tuesday at 3:00pm at New Haven Cemetery, Harrison, OH. Memorials are suggested to Donor's Choice.
