Doris E Sykes

Doris E. Sykes, age 97, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at her home in West Harrison, IN. Born May 29, 1918 in Dearborn County, IN she was the daughter of Edwin & Iza Mae (Renck) Southard.

She was a 1936 graduate of Bright High School, was a homemaker and also worked for US Shoe. She married Clair Thomas Sykes on April 22, 1938 in Dearborn County, IN. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Harrison, OH.

Doris is survived by her daughter-in-law Sandy Sykes of W. Harrison, IN;  grandchildren Andrew Sykes of W. Harrison, IN, Danielle Sykes of W. Harrison, IN, & Kevin (Jennifer) Collins of Harrison, OH. She will also be missed by her great grandchildren Sheldon Sykes, Mason Collins, Hayden Ellis, & Riley Ellis along with her sister Faye Pope of Harrison, OH.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Danny T. Sykes.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 9:00am until time of services at 11:00am all at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating. Burial will immediately follow services at Gibson Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. John United Church of Christ c/o the funeral home.
