Clarence Joseph Grossman, age 82 of W. Harrison, IN passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at his home. Born November 18, 1929 in Sunman, IN he was the son of Joseph & Leatha (White) Grossman. He attended the Pocket School in Batesville, IN. The Army Air Corp Veteran during WWII married Mary Herd on October 8, 1949 in Batesville, IN. Clarence drove a truck for the Teamsters for 20 years. Clarence loved being outdoors. He grew a big garden. The family said he planted it, grew it and then gave it all away. He always wanted to have the first tomatoes grown in the area. He loved his garden, fishing, wildlife and this was his favorite time of the year. He also liked to go to Grote's in Bright, IN in the morning and the evening with the guys where they solved the world's problems. He was a wonderful grandpa and always had candy for the little ones who called him "Poppy Gross". He will be missed by his family very much. Mr. Grossman is survived by his wife Mary Grossman, children Stan (Mary) Grossman of Peoria, AZ, Nella (Paul) Hoffbauer of Guilford, IN & Eli Grossman of W. Harrison, IN. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Stephanie Wesolek, Stacy Weidman, Jed Grossman & Tiffanie Meister; great grandchildren Alix Meister, Guy Meister, Gabby Grossman & Gaige Grossman and sister Alice Collins of Batesville, IN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Elmer Grossman, Ernie Grossman, Edna Chandler & Eleanor Webb. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 4-7pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Funeral Services will be Thursday 10:00am at the funeral home with Dale Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Harrison Funeral Detail. Memorials are suggested to the National Wildlife Federation or Dearborn County PAWS c/o the funeral home.
