Cecil David Sturgill, age 90 of Bright, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Born August 23, 1936, in Eolia, Kentucky the son of Winfrey and Elizabeth (Bowman) Sturgill.
Cecil married Melba King on June 27, 1959, at the First Baptist Church in Harrison, Ohio. A Supervisor for General Motors for 34 years retiring in 1991. Member of the Miamitown F &AM, NCHA (National Campers and Hikers Association), loved to travel and being outdoors with his grandchildren taking them fishing, working around the house, going to Argosy Casio and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball and softball all the way through the college careers.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Melba Sturgill. Father of Daryl (Kris) Sturgill. Grandfather of Shane Wright (Emma) Sturgill, and Savannah Rose Sturgill. Brother of Nancy Hargis, Barbara Snyder, Esther Page, Ralph (Judy), Norman (Zoe), and James Sturgill. Also survived by his brother-in-law Wayne Benning.
Preceded in death by his parents Winfrey and Elizabeth Sturgill, sisters, Bessie Sturgill, and Betty Benning.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12:00 P.M. all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 Broadway Street Harrison, Ohio 45030. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery Bright, Indiana. After the graveside service everyone is invited to join the family at the Yeager- Benson Memorial American Legion Post 199, 10700 Campbell Road Harrison, Ohio 45030.
