Betty Lou Wurtzler was born on October 7, 1929, to Margaret (Tiny) Wurtzler. She and her mom lived and worked on a farm, close to Stricker’s Grove. Betty grew up working on the farm and attending elementary school. She always had the fondest memories of the farm and her time there.
After her mother passed away at the age of 73, Betty continued living alone on the farm. She eventually sold the farm and moved in with her mother’s sister, and Betty’s aunt, Geneva Werner. They had fun, and Betty continued her love of farming with her garden behind the garage, growing zucchini, tomatoes, among other vegetables. After Geneva passed in 2011, Betty began going to the Harrison Senior Center every Tuesday and Friday. She loved the fellowship she found there and playing Bingo and many other games that were available.
When Betty was unable to live alone at home, she decided to move to Shawneespring of Harrison. She made many friends there and was a favorite resident of the staff, with her up-beat personality, generous nature, and zest for life! She continued taking part in all planned and unplanned activities including her beloved Bingo and Rummy. No matter who you talked to, everyone commented on how much they loved Betty.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Wurtzler. She is survived by many cousins and friends.
