Bette Jean Blanton was born in Rock Castle Co., KY on July 25, 1946 to Dennis & Dollie (Ellis) Blanton. A few years later the family moved to a home near New Trenton, IN. This is where Bette's childhood memories took place. She attended the Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church and graduated from Whitewater High School. In Bette's middle twenties, she moved to Nashville, TN and this is where she lived most of her life. About six years ago she moved back to this area. She passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005 in Hamilton, OH after a short illness. Bette's father, Dennis Blanton passed away in 1963, her brother Mac Arthur Blanton died in 1976, her husband Clyde Watson preceded her in death and her loving mother, Dollie Blanton died in 1997. Bette is survived by a special friend and partner Robert A. Fening, Jr.; daughters Teresa Lambert of North Manchester, IN and Leslie ( Michael) Nevin of Estill Springs, TN; grandchildren Terri, Jessica, Samantha and Robert; brothers Dennis Blanton Jr., Sammuel Blanton and Chris Blanton all of West Michigan; sisters Charlene Wooten, Lena Bradford, Retta Gordon, Freda Trammell, Lucy Ammeraal and Darlene Kelch all of West Michigan; Mae Hicks of Harrison, OH and Jeanne Nichols of Kingsport, TN. Visitation will be Monday, February 7, 2005 from 5-8pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at West Harrison Pentecostal Tabernacle with Bro. Wade Hicks officiating. She will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Cemetery in Harrison, OH. Memorials are suggested to Vitas Hospice or Charity of Choice.
