Bertie L. Jacob, a cherished member of her family and community, was born on August 17, 1939, in St. Leon, Indiana. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Bertie dedicated many years of her career to contributing significantly at Sperry Plastic & Rubber and later at Argosy Casino. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were admired by her colleagues and all fortunate enough to know her.
An alumna of both Guilford and St. Leon High School, Bertie had a life-long connection to education and personal growth. She was also a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in St. Leon, Indiana, where her faith played a central role in her life.
Bertie married her beloved husband, Leo Jacob, on October 6, 1962, in a ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church, also in St. Leon, Indiana. Their marriage was a partnership filled with mutual respect and admiration, and together they built a warm, loving family.
She leaves behind her son, Gary (Amy) Jacob, and her daughter, Theresa (Gerry) Macdonald. Bertie's pride and joy were her grandchildren: Eric (Kati) Turner, Ethan (Gabriella) Smith, Olivia (Scotty Schafer) Smith, Hannah Smith, Lucas Smith, and Emmett Jacob, along with her great-grandchildren: Vaeda, Lincoln, Tucker, Tanner, Riley, and Paisley.
Bertie is also survived by her loving siblings: Dorothy Barth, Wilma Burkey, Anna (Philip) Darling, and Bonnie (Chris) Mills, as well as her brothers Paul (Carol) Weldishofer, Billy Weldishofer, and Lawrence (Marilyn) Weldishofer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Jacob, as well as her brothers Jim Weldishofer, Joe Weldishofer, Richard Weldishofer, and Wilbur Weldishofer, her sister, Evelyn Weldishofer, and her grandson, Levi Clark.
Visitation to honor Bertie's life will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., with Father John Hollowell presiding, at All Saints Parish (St Joseph Campus), 7536 Church Lane, West Harrison, Indiana 47060.
Bertie L. Jacob will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her dedication to her community. She touched the lives of many and leaves enduring memories that will forever be cherished.
