Bernice Messer

Bernice Messer, age 90 of Harrison, OH passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Shawnnesprings. Born February 25, 1921 in Harrmin, TN she was the daughter of the late Roy E. & Margie L. (Hunt) Phillips. Bernice was one of the original Rosie the Riveter's at the Wright Defense Plant, she was a successful business woman in the Harrison area and worked for US Shoe for several years. She managed Indian Footprints Apartments in Harrison and traveled extensively with her sister Margaret (Bill) all over the world. Bernice is survived by her children and their spouses Judy & Robert Baker of Bethel, OH; Rhonda & Jerry Dorst of Bright, IN and Rick & Kathleen Messer of St. Paul, MN. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Caleb Messer, Hannah Messer, Darren (Sherry) Lochard, Lisa (Robert) Fugate, Bryan (Jana) Dorst & Erik Dorst and great grandchildren Jordan Roush, Austin Lochard, Khelsi Lochard, Khendra Lochard, Corrine Dorst & Alec Dorst and her sister Margaret (Bill) Chirch of Tucson, AZ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Orville Handy & George "Fred" Messer, granddaughter Jodi Dorst and siblings Marie, Tola, Virginia & Robert. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 12pm until time of services at 2:00pm all at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home with her son Rick Messer officiating.
