Bernice Ethel Colegate

Bernice Ethel Colegate, age 85 years of Clarksville, OH passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 at Cape May Retirement Center in Wilmington, OH. Born July 15, 1926 in Harrison, OH she was the daughter of the late Edgar & Mary (Perkins) Schlemmer. The 1943 graduate of Harrison High School married Glen L. Colegate on July 4, 1947 and he preceded her in death. She was the personal secretary for the superintendent of Southwest Local Schools for 20 years. She was a 60 year member of the First Christian Church, served on the Harrison School Board and a member of DAR. Bernice is survived by her children Cathy (Jim) Hilgendorf of Lewiston, MI, Greg (late Barb) Colegate of Virginia Beach, VA, Dr. Brad (Andrew Mitchell) Colegate of Columbus, OH. & Bruce (Sara) Colegate of Clarksville, OH. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Chris, Julie, James, Jeff & Mary Beth and great grandchildren Sean, Addison, Collin & Archer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and sister Jean Schweitzer. Visitation will be Monday, October 3, 2011 from 5-8pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 10am at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery.
