Barbara A. Sommer

Barbara A. Sommer, age 56 years of Logan Township, IN passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 in Cincinnati, OH. Born August 7, 1952 in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of Lucy (Hafley) & the late Lester Meece. She was a 1970 graduate of Colerain High School then in 1991 she went to night school at UC for her associates degree in accounting. She was the head accountant for On Assignment Traveling Nurses. She married Dan Sommer on October 13, 1969. Barbara was a kid at heart & loved spending vacations at Disney World or going on Carnival Cruises. She was a very generous person but was a straight shooter and told it the way it was. She was loved by her family and her daughter-in-laws were considered her daughters. When her sons were in sports, she was their best fan. Mrs. Sommer is survived by her husband Dan Sommer, children Scott (Stephanie) Sommer of Cincinnati, OH & Joel (Kristin) Sommer of Bright, IN. She will also be missed by her mother Lucy Meece of Colerain Township, OH; grandchildren Kelsey, Emily, Ethan & Taylor Sommer; siblings Jerry (Mary) Meece of Mt. Healthy, OH; Debbie Worner and Sue Finley both of Colerain Township, OH & Tammy (Lou) Pasley of Fairmont, OH. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 5-8pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am with visitation starting at 10am at Friendship Baptist Church, 8580 Cheviot Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45251 with Pastor Gary Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery in Bright, IN. Memorials are suggested to Ohio Cancer Research c/o the funeral home.
