Alvin F. Sunderhaus, age 83, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Leo and Christine (Peters) Sunderhaus on March 14, 1939, he married Charlene (Roy) Sunderhaus and later married Dollie Rininger. He was a meatcutter/butcher with Kaiser Meats in Cedar Grove, Indiana, and was a member of St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Alvin is survived by his daughter Linda Schmidt; six grandchildren: Diana Sunderhaus, Bobby (Angie) Sunderhaus, Joseph (Ronda) Sunderhaus, Sarah (Nathan) Gibson, Tyler Schmidt, and Michaela Sunderhaus; 11 great-grandchildren: Darren, Carley, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Noah, Ellie, Naomi, Henry, Peyton, Caiden, and Gus; and two daughters-in-law: Evelyn Sunderhaus and Missy Moore.
He was preceded in death by his wives: Charlene Sunderhaus and Dollie Rininger; his sons: Alvin “Butch” Sunderhaus, Jr. and Ronald Sunderhaus; his parents: Leo and Christine Sunderhaus; brothers: Pete Sunderhaus, Doc Sunderhaus, and Ervin Sunderhaus; sisters: Hilda Burton, Catherine Kramer and Ethel Dutch Miller.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Father Bill Dorrmann all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery Harrison, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Alvin’s memory to Sunman Rescue 20, 403 Meridian Street, Sunman, Indiana 47041 or in care of the funeral home.
